Fine dining

July 10, 2019

I couldn't believe my ears when my friend told me he was going to Paris for lunch. He lives in Barcelona you see. Then he told me it was the 3 Michelin-star restaurant, Arpege, and it all made sense.

My friend is a great fan of food; a real connoisseur. He doesn't eat to live, he lives to eat. And when you see some of the dishes on offer at Arpege it makes your mouth water!

What actually surprised me is that the food he enjoyed that day was entirely vegan. The Catalans are known to appreciate their meat and when Jim (aka Jauma) first stayed with my family in 1981, during my mother's vegetarian phase, the first desperate thing he uttered when he got home was, 'Carne, carne'.
